Calling all young adventurers and novice swimmers aged 12 and up!
Brace yourselves for an incredible experience at the Frankston Swim Classic 400m event.
Launching from sands in front of the MPTC clubhouse at the Frankston Yacht Club, you'll be completing an out-and-back lap that's sure to leave a lasting impression. The clear waters beckon as you power through, demonstrating your determination and passion.
Water safety from the Frankston Life Saving Club will be standing by, supporting you as you conquer this exciting swim.
With the start and finish line set against the backdrop of the Frankston Waterfront Festival, the atmosphere will be nothing short of electric. It's not just a swim – it's a chance to create memories, showcase your skills, and be part of an event that's becoming a legendary tradition.
1.2km event details
Get ready to take on the middle-distance challenge in the Frankston Swim Classic 1.2km event, where swimmers of all levels can showcase their endurance and determination.
Starting and finishing on the beach in front of the MPTC clubhouse located within the Frankston Yacht Club, this event offers an opportunity to experience the beauty of the open water in a single lap course.
From the sand you’ll head straight out for approximately 200m, before turning right and completing a single rectangle swim, before turning and heading back into the beach finish.
You’ll enjoy the clear waters of Port Phillip Bay and find yourself immersed in a swim that's both physically challenging and deeply rewarding.
With the Frankston Waterfront Festival as your backdrop, you'll be propelled by the cheers of family, friends and enthusiastic locals.
2.5km event details
Get ready to make a splash in the Frankston Swim Classic 2.5km swim event.
The swim kicks off right from the sandy shores in front of the MPTC clubhouse at the Frankston Yacht Club. You'll tackle two invigorating 1.25km laps that will test your endurance. At the halfway point, with the roaring cheers of an enthusiastic crowd, you'll make your way from the water to complete a spirited run around the turn point.
Our pinnacle event starts and finishes on the sand in front of our MPTC Clubhouse, at the iconic Frankston Yacht Club.
This event is all about pushing boundaries, embracing the challenge, and celebrating with family and friends.

Water safety
On course water safety will be provided by our friends at the Frankston Life Saving Club.
Whilst professionals are on hand, it is imperative that you know your limits, ability and that you enter an event distance that is within your skill and safety level.
Race Rules & FAQs

Wet suits are allowed and are recommended for safety reasons.
No extraneous aids are allowed. This includes, but not limited to, fins, boards, snorkels, floatation gear and personal support teams.
Goggles are allowed and are recommended.

Swimmers will be required to have an official swim cap and a timing chip on their ankle, which must remain on the individual throughout the event. No swimmer shall be recorded as a finisher unless wearing the official swim cap and timing chip on their ankle.

Swimmers must be:
- 12 years or older on the day of the event to compete in the 400m event.
- 17 years or older on the day of the event to compete in the 1.2km or 2.5km event.

The spirit of friendly competition should be maintained throughout the event. Any unsportsmanlike conduct will be grounds for immediate disqualification.
Swimmers must swim the course as marked and follow all directions of race officials and our life savers. Any variation to the course will be announced at the start.
Swimmers who cross the start line before the starting gun is fired will be liable for disqualification.
Organisers reserve the right to accept, reject and cancel entries.
Race officials shall have the authority to remove a competitor from the swim if the competitor is judged to be physically incapable of continuing the swim without the risk of injury to themselves or others.

Medals will be awarded to first, second and third place (male and female) for each of the 400m, 1.2km and 2.5km. Published results will display age category placings.

Refunds for any reasons are available until 3 February 2024. An administrative fee of $5 is charged. No refunds are available after this date.
In the event of circumstances beyond the organiser’s control, such as severe weather or poor water quality, the event may need to be cancelled at short notice. This decision will not be taken lightly, however we will unconditionally put safety first when making this decision.
No refunds will be provided in the event of a cancellation. T-shirts will still be provided. -
Collect your swim cap and timing chip from the Frankston Yacht Club on the morning of the event.

Enter before 10th January 2024 and your t-shirt will be available for collection from the Frankston Yacht Club on the morning of the event.
Enter after 10th January 2024, and a $10 postage and handling fee applies and your t-shirt will be mailed to you approximately 6 weeks after the event.
Please select your size carefully as exchanges will not be possible.

Wave starts may be used depending on the number of entrants and water conditions on the day. Irrespective of which wave you start in, your time will be calculated based on the time you first cross the start line.
